Gracias por las correcciones, Sancho Panther :)
¿Puedo preguntarte una pregunta?
Si hago errores o digo algo incorrecto.... Me repito, ¿no? :)
Quería expresar "if I say anything odd", significando "if I choose words that make it strikingly obvious that I'm not a native speaker".

Cheekybunny - your magnanimity does you enormous credit! I must confess I get a bit irritated at corrections - especially if I'm not a hundred per-cent convinced that they're justified!

¿Puedo preguntarte una pregunta?
Spanish speakers tend to be very touchy about what we see as pleonasms and repetition of sounds, so we wouldn't say things like "preguntar una pregunta", "soñar un sueño", etc, but "hacer una pregunta", "tener un sueño"... :)

Thanks to both of you :) Unless you're specifically aiming to insult me, you're not going to insult me, so don't apologise for pointing out errors etc ;) I need people to do that if I'm to avoid bad habits :)
Incidentally, even if somebody did directly insult me, I'd just fail to respond :p
