Yeah, I thought it was pretty funny too. I even know enough German to understand what they were saying in German too. :)

German:

Lady: I speak a little bit if German, do you speak German?
Man on bike: German? No. (to the other man) Do you speak German?
Other man: German? I speak a word or two, but I'm not fluent.

When the second man says "maybe we'll have learned some English next time you're here" the man on the bike say "or maybe some German".

Actually, there's some truth in that. I've had lots of students who are learning English tell me they can't speak any English, or that they speak very little, but it turns out that they speak a fair amount of English, and they often have a good accent, but they are self-conscious and scared of speaking it. That's been my experience with lots of people.

True. I have a student this year who is really great, but she has no self-confidence at all and keeps on saying her English is terrible.
