In my Spanish classes today, we had a Fiesta de Navidad - we made sopapillas and churros, the kids made/brought homemade tortilla chips, salsa, polvorones, flan, pisto manchego, and tortilla española!! ¡La comida era deliciosa! (¿Es correcto usar el imperfecto "era" o debo usar "fue" o "estuvo"?) I just wanted to sit and eat the tortilla española all day long - it brought me back to my time abroad in Spain!!

Your English is pretty good, but I've made a few minor corrections! One thing to note in the first sentence is that you want to keep the verb 'have' there instead of making the contraction "I've" because it is showing possession, not being used in a verb phrase.

I have family in Colorado.
I've visited them often.

@Viajero: The missing personal 'a' was your first mistake and the wrong person for the verb sonreir was your second. These were both noted by Crotalito (except that he misspelled sonreí). All other additions made by Crotalito aren't grammatically necessary. Your sentence was just fine without them, grammatically. :)

I'm pleased about the word order. I'm keen to make sure that things don't sound awkward too, but correct grammar is the first step for me!
