Is the subject pronoun 'yo' necessary in this sentence?

Is the 'yo' in red necessary? Can I remove it from my sentence? The verb ending conveys who the subject is, in this case, so no, it isn't necessary to include the subject pronoun. The only reason you would want to repeat the first-person subject pronoun in the present tense is if you're trying to be emphatic.

You do not need to use "yo" in that sentence. "Yo" is already the clearly established topic of the discourse. You would need a subject pronoun if you were changing topics.

One other comment: You said: "telenovelas son más relajantes". Much better to say: "Las telenovelas son mucho más relajantes".
