Hey! I have a huge Spanish presentation coming up about Pablo Picasso. I have to give an 11 minute Spanish presentation over 10 of his works :worried: I was just wondering if I translated this sentence right?
"When I realized Casagemas was dead, I started painting in blue."
"Cuando me di cuenta Casagemas era muerto, yo empecé pintar en azul."
Thanks! :)

Welcome to the forums!
"Cuando me di cuenta (missing a conjunction, at least) Casagemas era (wrong verb, but correct tense) muerto, (yo) empecé (missing a preposition) pintar en azul."Ask questions, if needed, to fix the things I marked.

Thanks! Can you tell me what mistake I made in the beginning?

The phrase you're trying to use is always followed by a conjunction. This conjunction isn't always needed in English, but is mandatory in Spanish. Sometimes the phrase you're using has a preposition as its last word, just prior to the conjunction. That's why I added "at least" to my comment.
If you're stumped, let me know.
How are you doing with the other comments?
When you think you've got it, post the sentence again so we can have another look.

Ohh ok!
Cuando me di cuenta de que Casagemas estaba muerto, yo empecé a pintar en azul.
Is that right? Haha.

Cuando me di cuenta de que Casagemas estaba muerto, (yo) empecé a pintar en azul. Good job!
The subject pronoun is unnecessary since the verb ending conveys that information.

Yo cambiaría el verbo "estaba" por "había"
