¿Es correcto «pensar en»?

La frase no suena bien para mí porque traduzco «en» a «into», pero mi libro la enseña. No entiendo como la usar correctamente. Por ejemplos, ¿son correctos? «Piense en mí. Pienso en ti.» «Pensamos en algunas maneras para ayudar otras gentes.»

O, ¿hay tiempos cuando «pensar» no se usa con «en»?

pensar de = think about (opinion), be of the opinion about
pensar en = think about (process of thought), think of, have in mind
pensar sobre = think over, think about
pensar = think about (consideration), think (belief), plan to/intend to

Tu libro es correcto: "pensar en ti" = "to think of/about you".

Los estudiantes queremos que las preposiciones de otro idioma correspondan exactamente a las preposiciones de nuestra primera lengua, pero el problema es que nunca corresponden exactamente.

Certainly it doesn't make any sense to say "pensar a ti" but I've heard "pensar a" in a few contexts:

Pensar a millón (To think quickly as hell)
Pensar a la deriva (To think with no point or concentration)

But I think that the reason is because the phrase itself is "a millón" and "a la deriva" but not because of the verb "to think" itself :rolleyes:

As for other uses of that preposition following "pensar", I'll quote myself from the same thread (http://forums.tomisimo.org/showthread.php?t=12518) where those pensar + preposition combinations were quoted too:

I have never heard "pensar a" (unless there is an idiomatic expression following, like "a ratos", "a fuerzas"/"a la fuerza", "a color(es)"... to give some sort of poetic idea). Although there may well be some regional use.

OK. I was only quoting the meaning that others applied to it. At least we know that it's a valid construct.

It is, but in that case, what I was thinking is that "pensar a = remember, reminisce over" should rather be something like "pensar a = analyze, consider". :)
