I think the correct word for receipt is comprobante, but I hear recivo all the time. Is this USA Spanglish, or is it international?

Both are used for "receipt"

Both can be used as synonyms, but they're not the only words used for a document that proves you paid for something.
You can say "factura", "comprobante (de pago)", "recibo", "voucher" (when you pay with credit card --pronounced [báucher]), "tíquet"/"ticket" (in Mexico; I don't know if it's used somewhere else)...
All of them, depending on the speaker and the "legal" purposes. :)
