Could Dios be pronounced in more than one way, depending on where in Spain you are?

Thank you for all answers in advance.

Dios...
The final "s" can be pronounced in a relaxed way, or even disappear in some loose speech from the South of Spain...

Dió
Dioh

It can go the other way,

Diossss.

I take that on the different variations the "o" may be more or less "open".

(But it is never pronounced like in Italian "Dío"...)

A friend of mine, a native-Spanish-speaker from Spain, pronounces it like "Diosh".
He does that with many words, though. Like "dos[h]" or "ques[h]o".

Where in Spain did your friend grow up?

I also have heard this pronunciation from some Spaniards, but not from all Spaniards. As far as I can tell, this particular pronunciation is used by some people who distinguish 's' and 'z/c' in speech. I have also heard it in the speech of fellow U.S. nationals who learned to speak Spanish in Spain. It's not universal among those who distinguish 's' and 'z/c'; I've always presumed that this is a feature of a particular region within central or northern Spain.

Well, those "sh" sounds can be heard on some speakers... (ehem) our current president emphasizes the "s" sound like nobody's business, and many standup comedians imitate his way of talking...

But yes, different speakers from different areas may have different "s" sounds...
