En la semana siguiente o a la semana siguiente?

Alguien me podría explicar por favor cuál es la manera correcta para decir "They left the next week"?


- Se fueron A la semana siguiente OR is it se fueron EN la semana siguiente?

Also, Is it al día siguiente OR al siguiente día - is there any difference?

If we talk about the past , would it be correct to say : Fui al almacén la semana pasada.. or should I use here "En" ? - Fui al almacén en la semana pasada?

On your first question, I guess both options would be OK, but only the first option it seems more used, at least for me.

Thanks! Would it be the same to say: La semana pasada fui al teatro and - En la semana pasada fui al teatro... i guess the first option sounds better, right?:)

Right, although like I said, the second one could be used for example to indcate that during last week you went to the movies or whatever. to indicate that your were doing something especial maybe.

No. Simply because you are saying literally "they left next week"

Compare that to:

They left the next/following week

Would those be OK in English?

In Spanish salieron a la próxima/siguiente semana is OK.

To me, when talking about time, "próximo(a)" implies that it hasn't happened yet, so it sounds awkward to use it in the past. I prefer "siguiente" instead. :thinking:

Does the order here matter? Could I say : A la semana siguiente, a la siguiente semana, al día siguiente, al siguiente día, a la próxima semana, a la semana próxima etc... would that somehow change the meanings?

The meaning remains the same for this cases, but if you use the adjective before the noun, you make an emphasis on the adjective's meaning.

What about these examples :
I want to start a new life- Quiero empezar una nueva vida. Is this correct?

I bought a new bike - Compré una bicicleta nueva.
I cooked a good meal- Cociné una buena cena.
He is a good friend- Es un buen amigo.

Now, "en la semana próxima iré a la iglesia" meaning that during, sometime, next week I will go to church.
