Hi Everyone
After this intro, I hope to be writing only in spanish. I'm a Puerto Rican who doesn't get to practice my native tongue as much as I would like to. I do have a new job which will challenge this. Looking forward to chatting with you. By the way, how do you say "hand sanitizer" in spanish.

Hola, Laura, y bienvenida. Me alegro mucho de quieras aprender español. Seguro que mejoras mucho en poco tiempo. Lamento no poder ayudarte con hand sanitizer, pues no sé qué significa sanitizer.

Welcome to the forum. If you stay with us you will read Spanish from different countries, and you will note that there's differences in vocabulary. I hope you stay. I know that Puerto Rican Spanish has
lots of good dichos and cultural individuality It would be fun to compare them with other countries' sayings and customs. You can really get help in brushing up your Spanish language abilities here too.
I would guess that hand sanitizer would be gel antiséptico para las manos, but before using that term, lets wait to see what native speakers say.

Hola Laura:

hand sanitizer = desinfectante para las manos

Esta frase se usa por estas regiones. Quizás se diga de diferente manera en España u otras partes de Latinoamerica.

Bienvenida a los Foros.

Since you said you would only be writing in Spanish from now on I thought I'd help you make the transition.

Welcome aboard!

Desinfectante para las manos is commonly used in Spain, as well.

Well, I just went to find a bottle of this stuff to see what it would say in Spanish, and I found out that this item but be the only product in this entire building that doesn't have everything written in both (or several) languages!

I guess it's desinfectante para las manos then...

Hey, Alfonso, have you been gone? It seems I have been missing your posts lately?

OK, we usually say desinfectante para las manos, but we don't really use it, unless you are a doctor and you need it. Plain soap is what we use for washing hands any case. Do you mean there are people who usually use hand sanitiser without being a doctor...?
I've heard that hygiene obsession is getting a problem some places...

Marsopa, I moved to another town, Toledo, during the week, to work. I haven't had too much time for the forum, as I've been working hard. I'm back home, and this is my first free afternoon in the last two or three weeks...

Yes....I'm in the USA CrOtALito. I am not particularly fond of beaches. I'd rather go hiking in the mountains. I would like to live in areas like Arizona or New Mexico. I don't think California or Florida are places I would go to. I love to experience different weather. The North Central part of the U.S. is perfect for that. Here it will be cool and raining in the morning and by evening it can be hotter than hell with periods of sun and rain in between.

Los mariscos tampoco son mi comida favorita. Prefiero un buen bistek a la parrilla (medium well) con champiñones, jalapeños y cebollas guisadas en mantequilla (that's the Texan in me) y una buena cerveza (that's the mid-western in me).

Y los del foro, que les gusta?

So Alfonso, can I say "Holy Toledo"! You have to be a doctor to use hand sanitizer? I guess if I'm going to be obsessed I would like to be obsessed about hygiene.
