Some countries (Argentina por ejemplo) call them comprimidos.

For non-native English speakers. it might be good to know that pill
can mean a person who is a real bore. Maybe it's equivalent of
mosca cojonera although that sounds a little bit vulgar.
I think a person who is pill = Una person que es una postema.

Isn't

abscess = postemilla (usually in your mouth)

Is

postema the same as postemilla (maybe in a different locale?)?

Rusty said that the word postema is a shortened version of the word
apostema which is a proper word for abscess in Spanish. Postemilla
is clearly a diminutive word (little abscess).
In some Latin-American countries calling someone a postema is the
equivalent of calling someone "a pain in the neck/ass" in English.
