Sé que esta palabra es muy poco usado. Pero encontré dos significados. Uno, es como la palabra conducir. El otro, en la RAE, es "convenir, concertar o guardar armonía una cosa con otra." Me parecen diferentes.... ¿Pueden ayudarme entender?

Esta es mi duda. ¿Es igual a conducir? ¿O es sinónimo de convenir? Me parecen muy diferentes.....

Nunca había oído que "condecir" significara "conducir"... :thinking:

¿Dónde has visto esa definición?

Para mí es la idea de "armonizar una cosa con otra", "convenir"... :twocents:

Difícil de explicar.

Es parecido a conllevar = to go hand in hand, same thing but with something that is being said or pertains to what is being talked about along the same lines.

It makes sense with the RAE definition, but not the "conducir" meaning from the article I posted the link for. Is the article wrong?

No, the article says it is "RARE SUBSTANDARD usage"
condecir (This verb has some rare substandard usage as a substitute for conducir, "to conduct.")

I.e., it is unusual, and probably used in a jokingly manner, or definitely "slangy" in some specific or regional area.

CREA (Corpus de Referencia del Español Actual) gives 4 examples of the standard usage of "condecir" (2 from Argentina, 1 from Uruguay and one from México...) just in the standard usage. (It is already a not very common word... but then the "rare SUBSTANDARD" usage is even more RARE...)

Well, yes... if you see "condecir" next time, you may remember that it means "guardar armonía..." but that's about it... :)

Oxford gives,
condecir vi condecir CON algo = to be appropriate TO something;
una conducta que no condice con su condición de presidente = behavior inappropriate to a president
or
which does not befit a president

That is a highbrow register, and you may see it in the future, but as you say..., don't lose any sleep on this one... ;)
