¿Mande usted? Sorry, what did you say? (Send me.)
Oí alguien decir ¿Mande usted? o simplemente ¿Mande? Es como decir, Qué dijiste? ¿Qué?
No entendi. Diga. Dígame. Viene del verbo mandar to send.
Yesterday I was at a soccer game and I was sitting with a bunch of people from Mexico.
I heard this expression, "mande", (sounds like Monday to English speakers) it's like
saying, Excuse me, what did you say? What? I did not understand. What did you say? Come again.
It's a very Mexican expression/idioma and seems that it is only used by Mexican Spanish
speakers and not by anybody else of the other 20 Spanish speaking countries.
My question is then, is it used in other Spanish-speaking countries. I think the people of
Central and South America do not use it. In Spain less.
At any rate, the next time you hear somebody from Mexico say "Mande?" you'll know what they are saying.
