Guy from the U.S. here. I mangle and violate this beautiful language on a daily basis. Maybe with the help of this forum, I can stop doing that.

Yo soy de California/I'm from California. What state are you from?
Did you hear the one where the Americano lawyer was vacationing in
Mexico and a Mexican asked him what he had studied when he was a
student and he replied: "Yo estudié derecha."
And the Mexican replied "Y nunca la izquierda?":D (and never the left?):D
In Spanish, "derecho" means "law." But "derecha" means "right" as in "left or right."
