Greetings all,

I am an American who can't speak a word of Spanish. I would like to ask for your help with a few Mexican Spanish words and terms, which I need for a short story I write involving a Mexican-American mother (40-ish) and her US-born daughter (20).

First, I need a term of endearment that Mexican mothers use when addressing their daughters, something equivalent to "baby", "honey", "sweetheart", or "my love". The daughter is twenty, but the mother, being a mother, will use terms of endearment commonly used for little girls.

Second, I need a word for "slut" or "whore" or something equivalent. It should fit in a sentence such as "don't act like a slut" or "you're dressing like a prostitute".

If you could give me several plausible words in each category, that would be great.

Again I emphasize that these must be Mexican Spanish words, not words from any other variety of Spanish.

Thank you for your help.

You can use cariña, mi amor, mi vida , etc.
Putesca means whorish.

Mija would be an excellent choice.

"Slut or Whore" - Zorra. Golfa is also another good option, although outside of Mexico it's meaning may be very different. Be careful with these.

don't act like a slut - No te portes como zorra/golfa

you're dressing like a prostitute - Te vistes como una prostituta

With the exception of golfa, all of these work in any country.

You can use cariño, mi amor, mi vida , etc.
Putesca means whorish.
Cariño es un adjetivo neutro, usado para ambos generos.
Mija would be an excellent choice.
También 'mijita'.
