I am trying to figure out which of these lines are correct. I checked on Google, but I'm not sure what to search for, so I'm not finding anything useful.


If you turned this into the math teacher, you would get an F.
If you turned this in to the math teacher, you would get an F.


I wrote the first line, but I seem to think that the second line is correct.

You want to turn something in (phrasal verb = turn in), not turn something into something, so only the second sentence is correct.

I had a feeling the second one was correct, but I couldn't figure out why. I don't even know English. :(
