Is there a word in Spanish for a co-grandfather?? For example I am a child's grandfather on the child's father's side and another person is the child's grandfather on the child's mother's side. Something akin to compadre???

Abuelo paternal, abuelo maternal.
I have also heard abuelo lado del padre, abuelo lado de la madre

You are the child's paternal grandfather (abuelo paterno) and the other man is the child's maternal grandfather (abuelo materno). Other than abuelos del mismo nieto, I can't think of anything else you could call yourselves.

Let's wait for a native speaker to chime in.

I don't know that there is a word for that. As already mentioned, I'll defer to a native speaker.

This is rather off-topic, but this reminded me of the word concuño which describes a cuñado-cuñado relationship. For example, me and my brother-in-law's wife are concuños.

By the way, I see this is your first post Larry-- welcome to the forums!

On this side of the puddle:

Mi abuelo materno/paterno

maternal/paternal here is used to talk about attitude, such as fatherly/motherly

the suffix in-law translates into the adjective politic@

Mi madre politica=mi suegra=my wife's ma

Concuñad@ is possible. We don't recognise concuño.

In general: at that stage of kinship, most spanish speakers would feel the link is too remote, so we tend to specify by chaining 'de' phrases.

Ella es la hermana del tio de mi primo segundo del abuelo.....

Wait! That's another one: tio/primo segundo as opposed to primo hermano

Primo hermano: cousin. My father's brother's son
Primo segundo: My father's cousin's son
