Mientras vs mientras que

Veo estos dos conjunciones de vez en cuando pero no sé la diferencia entre ellos. ¿Hay alguien que me pueda explícarmelos?

"Mientras" se usa para una acción que sucede durante el tiempo que transcurre otra acción:

- Espera aquí mientras voy por un café.
Wait here while I go get a coffee.
- Mi hermano juega mientras yo hago mi tarea.
My brother plays while I do my homework. (At the same time.)


"Mientras que" significa "en cambio"; contrapone dos acciones:

- Mi novia cada vez está más delgada mientras que yo cada día estoy más gordo.
My girlfriend is thinner and thinner, while I get fatter by the day.
- Los niños se divierten mientras que los adultos nos preocupamos.
The children have fun while we adults worry.
-Mi hermano juega mientras que yo hago mi tarea.
My brother plays whereas I do my homework. (I'm bitter that he gets to play but I have to work.)
