Incredible. I've heard for years that animals I would never dream of eating are eaten elsewhere. Perhaps it's more common that I thought, though, because there's a store not too far from where I live that sells all kinds of exotic foods and meats. The products come from all over.
I've never visited the store, but I've heard about a few of the items for sell. Incredible. (I don't remember hearing anything about cat and dog meat, thank goodness).

I've eaten monkey and iguana, which wouldn't be thought of as very common, at least in the US. :)

The only meat I've eaten was beef, chicken, pork, deer (only once), duck, goose, frog, turtle. I might have eaten some other kind and not listed it here, but as far as I know, eating CATS and DOGS is defintely out of hand.
oh, and fish too!
Note: the turtle I've eaten was eaten in China, the soft shelled turtle. I had 2 soft shelled turtles as pets, but one killed the other while we were on vacation (long time ago) so we have only one. It is not very big.

I agree, but the only reason we feel that way about cats and dogs is because we have an emotional relationship with them. Objectively though, there is really no difference between eating a cow and a dog, other than the emotional component. They are both sentient creatures. If we were super attached to an individual cow or deer or goat, we would probably feel the same way about them.

Yes, on my country in the restaurant of China Food were closed, because the people of many place denounced that the restaurants of China Food the meat was of cats and dogs, and it could to be dangerous for the a few hygiene of the food, then I don't agree with the dead of the animals less with the dogs dead, but you know the Chinese people eats everything until cockroach, and I don't know above their culture but, I believe what that is nasty.

I think Marsopa hit the nail on the head. There's not much difference between a dog, cat, cow, horse, etc., except our perception and emotions. The same goes for eating different parts of animals. In the United States, people normally only eat an animal's meat and nothing else. In Mexico, they eat the stomach, intestines, eyes, brain, feet, etc., which to me is strange and to them is perfectly normal.

I know for a fact that in some areas of the South they eat from "snoot to toot".
I also agree with Marsopa. If my pet was a chicken, I wouldn't want to eat it. BUT!!! I draw the line in eating cats or dogs or bugs or creepy, crawly thingys....
:crazy::lengua::(:yuck:

Rusty

Yes, I've eaten hot dogs before. Most Americans (people from the United States) have. But, to be fair, there are certainly some Americans who choose not to eat them, for several reasons.

Hot dogs are made out of the complete animal--as Elaina said "snoot to toot" all ground up with spices and preservatives.:yuck::thumbsdown:. Well anyway at least nothings wasted (snouts, genitals, etc) and the animal wasn't killed en balde.
Has anyone here tried Quorn ?(I don't believe it's available in Mexico,) Quorn "meat"balls are really good, and Quorn ground "meat" make pretty good picadillo. Tofu baked in the oven with onion, peppers, lemon juice, okra, tomatoes,salt,honey, garlic, Marsala wine, olive oil and capers is very palatable and a complete meal.
Just a suggestion: Breaking away from meat even for just a couple of days a week is worth considering.

Breaking away from meat for a couple of days? I can't stand that you know. I just love meat ... even though I feel sorry for the animals... I just like meat too much. Perhaps I shall try, but my family will think this is odd. They always know I love eating meat ...
I've never tried the tofu baked in the oven with ....... and all that stuff, only the Chinese kind, fried kind, and several other kinds of ways (and I put spicy sauce on them)
