This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word (http://daily.tomisimo.org/) for December 26, 2008

niñera - feminine noun (la) - babysitter, nanny. Look up niñera in the dictionary (http://www.tomisimo.org/dictionary/spanish_english/ninera)

Es importante revisar las referencias de una niñera antes de contratarla.
It's important to check a babysitter's references before hiring her.

so would a boy babysitter be el niñero or something? I reckon that most nannies and babysitters are girls.
I would love to be a babysitter. My mom's one and she earns $20.

Yes is important check the documents of the person who will care your children, because you don't know who is the person and what kind intention has the same person when is she caring your children.

Again, these daily word threads are for discussing the daily word (niñera) or related words and phrases (niñero, etc.), not for rehashing the content of the example sentence, which is merely to illustrate how to use the daily word. Thank you.

De nuevo, los hilos para la palabra del día son para discutir la palabra del día (niñera) o palabras y frases relacionadas (niñero, etc.), no es para repetir el contenido de la frase que puse de ejemplo, que sólo existe para ilustrar el uso de la palabra del día. Gracias.

David then you can say, I can't post anything in this thread, because exist rules where it spicify that the members can't posting anything above the thread, Why can't the person post anything above that, I think that if the post is made for the general public, then it could to be free of post, I don't know, you tell me why?
