Hi,

All the meanings of the word are pretty straightforward, yet I'm still at a loss...

This is metaphor. All the days of summer, considered as a whole, were passing by (crumbling away, ticking by (as can be said for the hours of a day)) one by one.

Thanks! I'm really happy that I've been through with Eso :D

Why una Barselona? In English it would have been the or nothing :)

Because it's taking how the weather makes you perceive the city as if you were in an alternative version of it. :)

It would be the same in English:
When I came back to the city, it was a different Chicago than the one I remembered.

We got lost in Candem and let me tell you that this is a London never depicted in the tourist brochures.

Gotham City is a gloomy New York, but Metropolis is a bright and blue-skied New York.
