I am a professed cubaphile, but have not been game to return to the island since Covid hit. A steady stream of bad news has been enough to stop me getting on a plane and induging in my favorite pass times of studying spanish and taking salsa lessons.
So last month I finally took the leap and booked a flight back.
First things first - I felt like the only tourist in the whole city. Gone was the throng in the plaza's and the touts trying to get you into a classic car. But still there was the Cuban spirit and the salsa music was as caliente as ever. I ended up staying 2 weeks and loved my time, and am already planning a return trip...before the tourist come back.
