Yes, you have said the truth, we used the word El bebe or La bebe for change the gender of the Bebe, well, I guess, you have heard above the sex male and female, well, if you going to Mexico, you will know that there are infinity of colloquial expression Mexico on, because, you know we are mixed us with people from sundry countries, and here my country on, not only there are Mexican's people if not, the worldwide are here, in this country, then exist infinity of expression refer to the same oration or sentence when you can find in a little search middle the people, they can use orations or simple word to say a only thing, for example if you have listened this expression, Oie Companero, instead of Oye amigo, then if you know above us, as our culture and the kinds of dialects that the people speaks, well, I know, you meet alots places around of the world, only I said or tried of explain above the sundry kinds of expression my country on.

Crotalito - I GREATLY appreciate your input. I am working hard to learn Latin American Spanish - I have many students from Latin American countries, have two very new friends from South America who speak mostly Spanish (from Peru and from Uruguay) and may be attending a conference in Mexico City in May. My learning curve needs to be huge!

I agree with David and Crotalito for the use of el and la when speaking of bebé......

As far as policía goes.....I can think of a few names to use for it/them whether it is collectively or not.........:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Yes, Elaina the gender from the word Bebe and using the other complements as El or La, they make the difference using the same subject.
