This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word (http://daily.tomisimo.org/) for January 12, 2009

mentira - feminine noun (la) - lie, falsehood. Look up mentira in the dictionary (http://www.tomisimo.org/dictionary/spanish_english/mentira)

Podemos pensar que una mentira nos va a ayudar, pero sólo nos va a complicar la existencia.
We might think that a lie will help us, but it's really only going to complicate everything.

so would the verb "lie" as in "He always lie to people" be mentriar or something?

mentir - to lie (look up how to conjugate it - it's a stem changing verb)
