Hi,
Somehow I haven't been able to find it online. I mean places like Banbury Cross and Bury St Edmunds.

There's plenty of online information if you search for "Bury Place Name Meaning."
Bury is an Old English place name, meaning 'fortified enclosure', like a 'fort' or 'stronghold'.
