Baladí

In Spain, baladí means a trivial matter. Is this term anything you have heard in Latin America?

I never heard this said in Central America. Its origin is Hispanic Arabic.

It's higher register; you will most likely find it in formal writing or when people show their more educated use of language. :)

I mostly hung out with campesinos (not much higher-register usage there).

Yeah, among the people I know, even among teachers, the word is pretty uncommon, when not unknown. :)
