In the very emotional song Amor Eterno there is a line about the sarifices in life that includes the word despenas (as in despedidas y despenas. I am not familiar with the word, and a dictionary's definition does not fit the meaning the song wishes to convey. Does despena have a
unique meaning in Mexico, or is the word added just to finish the stanza?

The elusive word likely means 'consolations'.

Thanks Rusty. That didn't even enter my mind. After presenting the term to the forum, I thought that perhaps it may also mean sacrifice. The term, according to dictionaries may refer to mercy killing, which may include tough decisions:thinking:

He sings "de tantas despedidas y de esperas". The transcription is incorrect. ;)
