Look up especialidad. Special is close, but you need to translate especialidad.

A la carta has the same meaning as à la carte, which is French for 'according to the menu'. In English, we borrowed the phrase without modification, though sometimes you'll see it without the accent over the a.

Well, I ordered chicken tacos a la cart.
So should this be:
"Well, I ordered chicken tacos according to the menu"?

No, use à la carte. This is English and is perfectly understood. It means you ordered individual items of food rather than an entrée (another English word we borrowed from French).
