Órale is a very useful/versatile Mexican slang word. It basically means "wow", "cool", "neat", etc.

Okis. I saw this new thread about the versatile word Orale.


Firstly Jchen. The word Orale meaning in my country wow or nice, cool, neat as said before David in his previous post.

For example you can use this Mexican usages when you are amazingly surprised with some thing.

Example. I wanna say this. Lee ying cool your book is amazingly interesting.

My attempt in the translation of the sentence (Lee ying orale tu libro esta increiblemente interezante)

Now. I know that my example is as clear as the water. Then I guess that you can understand the Mexican usage.

Orale is a very versatile word widely used in Mexico, I think Central Americans use it too. Im sure I've heard them using it, but Spanish is more complicated to define in the States.
Tomisimo and all the other guys are completely right. It has many meanings. Could someone tell me if its consider vulgar?

I remembered that the strangest word I had ever heard in my life, long ago, was "ahorita". The rest of the Mexican slang or dialect sounded quite common to me. Any person belonging to an Ibero-American country has been in contact with the Mexican form of Spanish through novelas, and the like, and the huge expansion of their economy (though the entire world seems to melt down these days).

I would also like to point out that orale has some adverbial expression of time and order. As in "Orale, metete a la cama" Somewhat similar to "ahora" and "ya"

I agree with everyone that "órale" is very versatile.......

I've heard mothers tell their kids......

"órale, muévete" = hurry up! move!
orale pues = okay
orale, sale vale = okay, we're in agreement, that's the plan, etc.
