Okay, I know many of you don't live in the U.S., and most likely don't follow U.S. men's college basketball. But it's tournament time; the only time of the year I can follow the games with some excitement.

Y ahora, en español! Acabalaba* un/una 'bracket' para el campeonato. Ayer, estúve diez de catorce. Espero que esuviera más buen hoy.

*No creo si 'acabalaba' es la traducción más apta, pero es una palabra divertida!

¿Como se dice 'bracket' para juegos en español?
Tambien, ¿Como se dice 'X out of Y'?

"Acabalaba" is indeed a funny word, but not Spanish. ;)
Did you mean "acaba" (from verb "acabar" = "to end")?

"Bracket", I think, can be translated as "clasificación".

"X out of Y" = "X de Y" (read "equis de ye") ...from your example: "diez de catorce"

Good luck to your favorite teams! :D

'Acabalaba', el Imperfecto del Indicitivo para 'Acabalar'. Quiero decir 'Completed/Filled-out".

Ok. My fault. I had never heard that verb, but the Academy says it does exist. Sorry.

Still, if it's not so common, it's certainly not the best verb for a sports-related feature. I think your verb should rather be "completar".

"Ayer se completó una clasificación para el campeonato"

I agree. I'd rather use the common words/phrases. Though I admit I went with it solely because it's so awkward but fun to pronounce. :)

Ayer, estúve diez de catorce
For this I might say "Ayer tiré diez de catorce".

'Tiré' es el pretérito de 'tirar', ¿Verdad? ¿Qué es la traducción? Tiene muchas acepcionas.

"Tirar" is the verb I'm familiar with for "to shoot" or "to take a shot" as in shooting the basketball.

Oh, well it was suppose to say "Yesterday I was 10 for 14." (in picking the correct winners).

Ahhhh, my bad. I thought you meant you were 10 for 14 in field goals. :)
