What do you celebrate on May 5?

It's the mother's day.

Here in my country is on May 10.

Or you are speaking about the May 5 Puebla's battle.

Cinco de mayo is definitely celebrated a lot more in the US than in Mexico (if celebrated at all), mostly due to the fact that I think most people think it's Mexico's Independence Day--that thought is entirely subjective though). It is the battle of Puebla contra Francia! :)

The real independence day of Mexico is on the 16th of September and it definitely is celebrated by many. This is the date where in each city or centro (downtown), "el presidente municipal" comes out of the window (or whatever it may be) and shouts "¡Viva México!" I was actually in Playa del Carmen for this last year and the pride that exists is amazing, even though I kind of wish I was in Mérida for the shout.

Another big celebration is the 20th of November, which celebrates the Mexican Revolution.

I'm not in any way a specialist in Mexican history, but I'm pretty sure those are right, or at least what I experienced when I lived in Mexico :applause:

We talked about Cinco de Mayo being principally a US celebration last year at this time.

Many people go to their favorite Mexican restaurant and drink more than usual to celebrate. As Nico mentioned, most Americans think they're celebrating Mexico's independence, but in reality the Mexicans aren't celebrating. Just we are. I suppose you could google Cinco de Mayo y aprender mucho más sobre la celebración. No sé nada de ella.
