The wheelbase of a car is the distance between the front axle and rear axle. Is there a specific word for this in Spanish?

Good question, I dont think there is, I looked in 2 dictionaries and under wheelbase I found,

distancia entre ejes - distance between axels

I don't think there is a word for it, just like we don't have any english word for anteayer (day before yesterday)

Correct me if I am wrong...

Is there a piece of something that goes between both, the front and rear, axles?

We say "distancia entre ejes", theres not a specific word for "wheelbase". I don't know if there is a piece of something there, I don't understand anything about cars mechanics.

I was wrong.

According to wordreference that distance is called "batalla" mechanically. Y no hay ninguna pieza de nada entre estas dos. (al parecer) :)

No soy mecánico tampoco.

I agree with Hernán... The word is "batalla". I only knew it for four-wheeled carriages and bicycles, but I've found it's used for all kinds of vehicles.

I would use "distancia entre ejes" and "distancia entre ruedas delanteras" instead of "batalla" y "via", the "classic" options, wich can lead to confussion.

greetings :D

I didn't know that, but I believe that word is more technical than a simple word.
