Esto me recuerda a las quinielas (1-x-2). ¿Se juega a las quinielas en otros países? ¿Cómo se dice quiniela?

Algunas correcciones para ti.

sports pools - football pool, baseball pool, soccer pool, etc.

So x pools means quinielas. Here there are pools for football and equestrian sports.

I think than when you say football, you mean "fútbol americanno"; and when you say "soccer", you mean "fútbol". Am I wrong?

Yep. Football is fútbol americano and soccer is fútbol.

Sometimes we say betting pools. The purpose of a pool is to wager/bet some money on the team/horse/etc. that you think will win.

In Spain is on the contrary, we add "americano" to the word "fútbol" to distinguish. I don't know if it's the same in Latin America.

Yes, in Latin America Spanish the distinction is also made. In Amercian English, football always means fútbol americano. Soccer is how we say fútbol.

OK, thanks. I don't like very much sports and, sometimes, I don't pay much attention to this vocabulary :)
