Haha! My first Spanish homework of my sophomore year!

Every month, like last year, has a journal entry with a certain topic. This month is about me. Same as last year, except you have to see if I have 12-15 sentences. Check my Spanish as usual - and my Spanish probably isn't as good because over the summer...well it kinda faltered :banghead: anyways I appreciate any help and thanks in advance! :good:

like last year, I will tackle it one by one. I'll write a few sentences and you check it. I will add more. Then when I have enough, I will put them together, maybe make some changes, maybe add some more details, and you will check it again.

¿Quién soy?

Here are the first few sentences.

Me llamo Jessica. Mi nombre de español es Sofía. Tengo catorce años. Mi cumpleaños es la diez de agosto. Soy callada.

Me llamo Jessica. Mi nombre deen español es* Sofía. Tengo catorce años. Mi cumpleaños es lael diez de agosto. Soy callada.

* I would use a conditional, but if you haven't learnt that yet then either let it stand under caution or use a different verb (equivaler, perhaps). I'm not convinced that that sentence is true (etymological dictionaries guess that Jessica comes from a Hebrew word meaning "God beholds", whereas Sofía comes from a Greek word meaning "wisdom"), but the first rule of language homework is to lie to make things more interesting so it doesn't really matter whether it's true or not.

I'm slightly uneasy about "es el diez de agosto" - I would incline to "es el día diez de agosto", so wait to see what someone better than me has to say on that.

Cumpleaños is correct.

oh and about my Spanish name and my regular name, I chose Sofía as the name to use in class. we get to choose our own Spanish names and in 7th grade I chose that. of course, they don't mean the same thing ;)

"Mi cumpleaños es el día diez de agosto" also :good: , but if possible, we try to avoid saying extra words. We're lazy :D :D

The Sosia's corrections is very acceptable

Really you only have to write this Me llamo Sofia mi cumpleaños es el proximo 10 de Agosto.

My sentence is another way to say the same than Sosia's correction.

You can write longer sentences:

Me llamo Jessica, Sofía en la clase de español. Cumplí catorce años el diez de agosto. Soy callada y.... (I guess something else ;) )

You can write longer sentences
Pero entonces tiene que escribir más. Es culpa de la profe por no poner requisitos en número de palabras ;).

I made a mistake. ¿Quién soy? is not the topic for this month's journal. it is mis vacaciones de verano. I'll make a new thread later
