I have a packet of lettuce seed that says

Lechuga - Orejono

I think this means something like big eared. no?

Can anyone tell me if this is a Romain variety?

oops. I messed up the name of this thread. it should say orejono, but i can't edit the title.

Where did you get the packet of seeds?

No it is repackaged, just a printed label, probably on a computer. No question it is lechuga, i can tell that by looking, but i can't decipher the tag. other than orejudo " big eared" ? if that's what it means.

Maybe I am in for a surprise yet. But it LOOKS like a lechuga seed. lol

orégano (http://www.tomisimo.org/dictionary/spanish_english/oregano) / oregano Maybe? But the oregano seed is muy pequeño y redondo. Very small like a mustard seed. Es lo que pienso

There's some Google hits for lechuga orejona (http://images.google.com/images?hl=es&q=%22lechuga%20orejona%22&btnG=Buscar+con+Google&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi), and I think from looking at a few of the sites, it refers to Romaine lettuce. See the fourth picture down on the right on this site (http://www.linersymas.com/fotos_sombras.htm).

! Qué tonto !

I googled everything but that. See, I just haven't learned to THINK in Spanish yet.

I did find an image of the oregano seed though, and it does appear very different. pequeño, redondo, y negro.

Excelente, gracias. Había esperado era lechuga romana.

btw, David we need those upside down punctuation marks in the insert bar.

Great suggestion, I'll see what I can do.

As far as the Lechuga goes, I think that's the right answer, but it would be good if a native speaker could confirm it.

Ok, that was easy enough. I just added the upside-down question mark and exclamation mark.
