I have this cd... its really easy to listen to because he just sounds like an american guy with no accent speaking spanish. Is this cd something that would benefit me or would it hurt in the end because I probably will never hear any native spanish speaking person this clearly......?

Supposedly he knew the words phonetically and did not understand the meaning of the lyrics. His accent is quite pleasant though, and you are right he sang those boleros clearly. He also sang English clearly. He was an expert communicator. In these forums I have often suggested listening to boleros which are ballads(mostly Cuban though some were Mexican) popular in the mid-twentieth century. They are romantic songs that are easy to understand. Listening to them may help you understand the rhythm of the language which differs from English rhythms. Luis Miguel is a contemporary singer who cut a bolero album awhile ago. He sings pretty clearly too.

I don't see how it would be a detriment.
