In common usage, does agradecer not require the preposition?

Por ejemplo:
Agradezco (por:?:) tu amistad.

Por o no por?

Agradezco por estar vivo- I thank (God) for being alive

Agradezco tu bondad.- I thank your kindness.

Agradezco a laepelba.- I thank to Lou Ann
