Mosco or Mosquito

What is more common in Spanish to say mosco or mosquito like in English?

I'm not sure, but I think you can also use zancudo as well.

From my experience, I'd tend to say mosco is more common, but then again, it's probably different depending on what region you're in. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

Mosquito/zancudo is a mosquito.

Mosco is a big, plain, old fly! but if it is the garden variety fly (smaller) it would be mosca.

In parts of Mexico where I've been, mosco is used for mosquito. As far as different sizes of moscas, puede haber moscas, moscotas, y moscotototas. :D
