I guess Spain's too far north to get hurricanes. :( Maybe I should move there. I've heard good things about Mallorca. :)

Hola Anthony:
Spain is too far.....life is more than sun, food and women;)
Unless that's what you are looking for.
No matter where you go, you will find something freaky from nature that happens there. too much rain, snow, heat, wind, drought, etc......
BUT if you find paradise, let us all know where it is.....
As a final thing, if you don't like hurricanes (I don't know why anyone would) the thing to do is move away from the ocean:confused:
Suerte!

So where should I go to start looking for paradise?

Think about it: you have lots of water, you can go sailing, but no sharks or hurricane threats, you have snow in the winter where you can go skiing or ice fishing or snowmobiling, you have a few hot days where you can just enjoy the sun and get a nice breeze from the lake............sounds good, huh? maybe I should move there:cool:.
I hope you don't mind my going from Spanish to English and vice versa!
Elaina;)

Look for a quiet place, a middle-small city with a high income somewhere in Middle USA.
I live in a small city 200.000 and it's vey comfortable.

Elaina;) No hay problema.

Tal vez, pero un paraiso es mejor. :)

Hi, this was a great thread and very interesting...where IS paradise?? Very good question. I think it can change all the time. I love Washington state; we have rainforests, mountains-volcanos! (Mt. Ranier, Mt. St. Helens), country/farmland, lakes, beaches/ocean, semi-desert and some great cities. It's so varied here. I've lived in Florida (Melbourne) and liked it for awhile, but really missed the comfort of seeing mountains in the distance. Las Vegas- beautiful desert and cartoon city where everyone was from somewhere else, such a transient feel but gorgeous view of the surrounding hills. I didn't like Chicago much, but maybe just didn't have the right tour guide? I dream of visiting Sante Fe, and of course, Mexico. My family and I plan to live there a couple months a year, if possible someday. I want to honeymoon in Puerto Rico...from what I've seen and heard in media and from people, that may be some kind of paradise to me.
Well, just wanted to share, thanks to everyone else who does the same, it makes me think alot and I also learn alot when you guys go from spanish to english and back.

Hola Julie and Anthony:
Es cierto.......el Estado de Washington y Oregon tienen unos de los paisajes mas bonitos. Desafortunadamente llueve mucho! Pero las montañas son algo espectacular. But Mt. St. Helens did erupt a few years ago and the mountain roads are treacherous in the winter time.
I'll keep on looking Anthony.....Hey! HOW ABOUT ALASKA?
