Well, I'm very amateur in spanish so I was looking for a proper way to say ago for example two days ago we went on a field trip, in that context, thank you for your help.

When I was looking around for the answer I found "hace dos dias" would this also work?

Yes I agree with the translation of my buddy Chileno.
for example one year ago I went to Chiapas city.
Hace un año fui a Chiapas.
Therefore the use proper of the word AGO in Spanish is relatively needed for indicate the pass time.
