i was talking to this guy about this girl and this is what he said

"Ya la chica te pone el palo en la rueda y vos insistís, también te ponés en un papel de pesado."

it looks like the 2nd one says she put me on paper as a pest but I don't understand the first one. the first one could be saying that basically i'm one of many she has.

am i getting these right?

You're right about the second one, means you're annoying.

About the first one, it means that she puts obstacles to make you see that she doesn't want anything with you.
It makes reference to when you put a stick between the wheels of a bicycle, to make someone stop and fall on his face.

No, it's reflexive. "You also put yourself in a role of pain in the neck".
