Make a citizen out of somebody
citizen out of, make a
a coined phrase meaning to get a person to operate in the manner of or to the standard expected of a particular group and its members; to initiate or orient, as to the way things are, the realities of a situation. What would be the equivalent in Spanish? Hacer de ti un ciudadano de provecho? Enseñarte lo que vale un peine? Any other ideas?

Muchas gracias a todos por las opciones.
En el contexto donde me aparece en inglés, tiene un aire algo sarcástico, como "te voy a enseñar" "eso te enseñará"... parecido a la expresión (incorrecta en inglés) "that will learn you"* (en vez de "that will teach you"), pero las opciones me sirven.
