Tengo otra pregunta del vocabulario espanol.

yo se que cut es cortar, pero como se dice "to trim" its different than "to cut" because you're cutting less off

It depends on the context, but I'd probably go with "recortar".

One example of context would be to trim your hair, it's just cutting off a little bit so it doesn't look scraggly, but it's not really a full-on haircut.

For trimming your hair, emparejar would probably be appropriate.

Here in Spain "emparejar" is definitely not used like that.

"Recortar" would be correct for trimming your hair.
