When making Spanish-English translations, should I write Universidad or University?

I´m translating from Spanish to English a book on biographies of famous scientist. All of them have studied at different universities around the world. If one of the scientist studied at "Universidad de Caracas", should I write "he studied at University of Caracas" or "he studied at Universidad de Caracas" ? I appreciate your help.

It should be translated into English-the University of Caracas.

Thanx a lot, Rusty. Could you please help me again in This case. I've found in other's biographies different ways to say that someone studied and got a degree. Which one is Better?:

Mathematician of the National University

Mathematician from the National University

Mathematician at the National University

I looked for biographies at Wikipedia and found the three examples, but I'm afraid not all of them are correct.
