Rara y extraña son sinónimos. Por eso no te preocupes. Puedes decir: es una cosa rara / es una cosa extraña. Es lo mismo I think it's the same in English.. or not? (rare /strange) ?

Yo también uso Google translator. A veces me salen cosas raras, pero bueno, está bien para tener una idea
