Puedo contestar algunas. Otras me resultan muy difíciles y no sé su significado en inglés.

• Dar a alguien de su propia medicina.
• Tocar madera.
• Ver la botella medio llena o medio vacía.

As you see, we use the same idioms literally translated into Spanish. For the rest of them, I can guess, more or less, what they mean, but I can not find the idiom in Spanish.

To be a sight for sore eyes: Me da gusto verlo.

To whisper sweet nothings: Decirle ternezas/palabras de amor al oído.

To wake up and smell the coffee: Despabilarse.

To feel under the weather: Estar enfermo/enfermizo

To knock on wood: Tocar madera.

To taste blood: un gusto por sangre

cuando alguien te trata mal o te hace una maldad, y tu respondes de la misma manera para que sientan lo que sientes.

to have tasted blood.
con este no estoy muy seguro que significa... :o pero podría ser cuando un agresor siente que ya va ganando o que ya ha herido a alguien, se emociona y se pone aún más agresivo. Pero no estoy muy serguro.

to feel under the weather.
alguien dice esto cuando está enfermo, pero más que nada se usa cuando tienes gripa o algún enfermedad no muy grave.

to touch wood. :bad:
I would say "to knock on wood", not to touch wood. Se usa cuando tú dices algo, y no quieres que te traiga mala suerte.

to wake up and smell the coffee.
literalmente "despertarte y oler el café", pero se usa de forma figurada para decir ¡despiértate, sacúdete, dáte cuenta de lo que está pasando, ya no estés tan pasivo!.

to whisper sweet nothings.
más o menos: susurrar/decir palabras dulces/cariñosas

to be a sight for sore eyes.
se le puede decir a una persona cuando la ves. Se usa en dos situaciones más que nada: 1. cuando ves a un buen amigo después de mucho tiempo 2. cuando ves a una persona muy atractiva físicamente.

to see the glass half full/half empty.
esto define si eres pesimista u optimista.

to hear something over the grapevine.
esto se usa cuando te enteras de algo a través de chismes o terceras personas.

David, las dos expresiones que mencionas se usan en España.

But I'm not sure if they are used the same way that those in English.

Dichosos los ojos que te ven se usa cuando llevas mucho tiempo sin ver a alguien y te lo encuentras. Es como decir: ya era hora de que te dejaras ver. Es decir, hay algo de reproche en la expresión.

Does this agree with to be a sight for sore eyes? And, in that case, how do you use it? Can you say: you are a sight for (my) sore eyes?

I'm with alfonso. In Spain "dichosos los ojos que te ven", it´s more for an encounter with an old friend or a grandma seeing his grandson once every five months.
to be a sight for sore eyes. "daba gusto verla" or "eres un regalo para esta vista cansada" has more praise/flirting meaning.
