Hi,
I am trying to figure out what the highlighted expression means in this sentence:

Colombiana de pura cepa, afrodescendiente por demás, Sonia Bazanta, más conocida como Totó la Momposina, reúne en su persona todos los ingredientes necesarios para lograr la magia “garcíamarquiana” de hacer de la música algo real y maravilloso.

According to RAE, "por demás" means either "en vano, inútilmente", or "excesivamente". This is certainly not the case here.
Another option might be "por lo demás" which normally means "otherwise", but I doubt if this is relevant for this particular context either.

For me, the expression sounds pretty much like "además", "moreover" here, but I can't find this meaning in dictionaries, so please would you clarify my doubts?

por demás = además (better spanish). Moreover, besides.
