*** English translation: My morning walk From eight-thirty in the morning I started walking. I saw the birds perched on the trees next to the road; And some insects still singing the note of last night. The morning air was cool and pleasant. The sun ray felt good on my back. I saw the mist rising from the lake, disappeared like ghosts in the rush! Gracias. Well, here is my attempt to fix Spanish points (no attempt made to count syllables at this stage or take care of rhyming or any other poetic value, just strictly fixing "language". I have not noted the corrections in colors, but you can compare the lines and ask if any questions.)
(or, desvaneciéndose cual fantasmas presurosos...) By the way, do you write in English and then translate into Spanish? (This was my impression, ie., to me the English version reads more polished and knowledgeable of the language than the Spanish... although I must say your Spanish is rather good too!) ![]() (The concept of the poem is also very nice, from my own viewpoint, of course.)

JPablo hola!

Hi, I've been trying to translate your phrase and i'm curious how close I am in the proper interpretation of the phrase in english, here's my interpretation: " The one who possess the truth is sufficient in oneself and does not intend to convince anyone". Please write your english version of it. Otra vez gracias, vita32 I meant to enclose your phrase in quotation and I did click the function but somehow it did not work, sorry! lo siento y perdoneme vita32 Last edited by AngelicaDeAlquezar; August 28, 2010 at 04:50 PM. Your version seems basically fine, and/or close enough. (I'd say that some nuances are a bit off). I would maybe go with something like this, "That which befits truth is that it is self-sufficient, he who possesses it doesn't try to convince anyone." Perikles and/or other English native speakers may correct my English, but the idea in Spanish is that "truth" is itself "truth", ie, I am not sure if "self-sufficient" is the best way to put it in English, but the idea is that "truth" "doesn't need anything else" than "truth" to be "truth". [I just remembered a poem by Juan Ramón Jiménez called "Poesía desnuda" = "Naked Poetry" which somehow follows a very similar line.] http://www.ensayistas.org/curso3030/...oesia/vino.htm Another more 'free' version, "The essence of truth is that it doesn't need anything else, he who has caught a glimpse of it, doesn't try [need] to persuade others [about it]." Hope that helps! ![]()
