Hold your breath

I was asked to translate this today and aguante su respiración.
As I said it, I thought I chose the wrong verb. Could you use aliento instead of respiración?

don't hold your breath = espera sentado
no one can hold his breath for more than five minutes = nadie puede contener/aguantar la respiración por más de cinco minutos
everybody was holding their breath at this moment = en ese instante todos contenían el aliento
everybody was holding their breath during the Brazil vs Chile shoot out = todos estaban con [el alma en vilo/el corazón en la boca/<some other anatomical parts reaching surprisingly high positions within the body>] durante los penales de Brasil-Chile.
