Question Documentalista

"Documentalista" is the correct translation for "documentarist".

Yet I have seen "documentarista" in Spanish as well, and probably I have used myself in casual conversation.

Given that the form with "r" does not appear in the DRAE, I'd tend to think it is a "barbarism" or a bit of "Spanglish"...

My question is, what is the form you most commonly use in your Spanish usage?

Is "documentarista" an anglicism to be avoided... or it is just another form as valid as the other?

Any other comments about it will be appreciated.

I'll take your word for it that "documentarist" exists in English...

Random House gives "documenarian" and "documentarist".
Shorter Oxford gives,
documentarian n. (a) a photographer of real events or places as a (historical) record; (b) = DOCUMENTARIST; (c) a historian who uses documentary evidence:

(By the way, Oxford gives "hisorical" in its CD/Rom instead of "historical"... vaya "gazapo"!)

I've always heard "documentalista", "documentarista" sounds odd to my ears. I would even have said "documentalist" in English.
